First of all, I know this post is a quarter late and probably not what you want to hear from me but I’m remiss to keep you all up to date. We’ll get into the details of the last 3 months in the coming days and don’t get tired of me.  ðŸ™‚ Let’s carry on from where I left off. I began this post and never came back to post it.

I’ve explained to you before that I’m not into resolutions. Planning is my sort of thing. The last time I did this was 2015 and that turned out pretty good. So, here I am prepared to document my plan for the new year. Please know these are in no particular order.

Prepare for all ID renewal

I need to renew all legal identification this year. This includes my driver’s license and passport. This is always a dreaded time for me. I wait until the last minute, don’t think my look out and end up settling with the outcome over the next couple years.  In 2017, I vowed to get everything prepared as if it’s New Year’s Eve. The picture below should serve as a reference. I’ll be sure to post the results through the year. Now, if I could get my hair to do this again I would be happier.

Pack A Lunch

Last year, I struggled with packing my lunch. Only because it’s so convenient to go down into the food court at work and pick up something.  According to my banking analysis for 2016, I spent more than 2,500 on takeout.  WHO THE FUCK HAS MONEY FOR THIS? Certainly, not me.  I have to do better as I prepare for the next stages of my life.  So far, I’ve only spent a few dollars on takeout but my planning for a small afternoon meal is getting better. It totally includes packing my lunch and hauling that lunch sack into the office at least 4 out of 5days a week.

Save More Money

My financial goals were realized in 2016. I saw the purpose of a savings account – and it certainly was not to purchase shoes and airline tickets on a whim. Thanks to my Facebook group, I’m doing all types of savings challenges.  Envelope, $5 bill and spare change. All funds from these initiatives will be deposited into my savings account quarterly to keep money from being in my home. In addition, I’ve planned to continue to figure out how I can cut costs.  Here’s an example of a savings challenge.

Reduce Cholesterol

With my recent health issues/concerns, I have become a prisoner to a Lipitor prescription. I want out of this medicinal jail. I know what I have to do and this is my way of getting it done. By the end of the year, I want them to tell me I don;t need the meds anymore. True, my numbers are not bad but I have to prove I can responsibly manage my cholesterol to reduce plaque production.

Purchase Martha & Marley Spoon/ Blue Apron Box

After my birthday, the next day I’m in great anticipation about is not even Valentine’s Day this year.  It’s Feb. 13th. That’s when Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party comes back to VH1. I’ve always loved Martha. My mother is a really good cook and would watch her show every day after Oprah. I learned how to fold sheets, dye eggs and set up for a kickass dinner party. In my efforts to cook more, I stumbled across this subscription box from Martha. I’m on board and will keep you informed on how it all works out.

Be moved by May

I have alot going on this year including several reasons to celebrate. This calls for a more visitor friendly environment.  My planning is based on being moved into another home by May.  We’ll see how this shapes up and I’ll keep you posted on the search options.  Will it be outside of Detroit? Not a chance! I know my heart would break. For every bad that everyone can point out, I know the good.  This will ALWAYS be home to me.

Date Nights

I generally don’t do the same cliche things others do in relationships.  My independent spirit has always lead to me creating better memories and becoming more creative. This one has been playing tennis in my mind for some time.  These will be instituted this year especially in the second half of the year. In addition, I have so many clothes in my closet with tags only because I think it would be great for when we go out. Let’s ramp this initiative up with some urgency – I’m not getting any smaller. (wink wink) LOL

Stop Frequenting Cheap Nail Salons

Within the last month of the year, I visited a really good foot doctor and he gave me some solid advice and unexcepted news. I’ll give you the good first. I didn’t have toenail fungus, just two badly bruised great toenails. The advice “you get what you pay for, maybe pay a little more for your pedicures to make sure they’re doing quality work.” Damn strip mall nail techs. You probably thought I was going to go there.  Not even but I thought this would give you a good laugh.

Don’t Lose it at the Graduation

I don’t know what I’m going to need to do but this one seems almost out of my control. Please direct me to some YouTube videos or something. I’ve already broken down at the championship banquet, senior parent meeting and on the sofa when he’s away. It’s something about that moment when you realizeY’all know I don’t want to embarrass the kid but something tells me it’s on the horizon.  Give me some tips or something!

Park on Level 4 All 2017

I’m in between driving and ride sharing to work daily. I don’t mind driving but the walk from the parking structure is a chore some days. So, I’ve vowed to never park above level 4. at the end of ’16, they made us park in the company paid area or be locked in the structure. I like familiarity and driving around and around looking for parking is not a high point of my day. In the coming days, I’m considering purchasing a vehicle and this may change (you should see how some of these people park.) In the meantime, level 4 or bust.

Everybody has their own goals and vision for 2017. These are the core items on my to-do list.  The numbers of the year have me energized, it’s me burfday scrambled. This seems like a pretty decent plan I can follow. What are your intentions for the next 12-months (or 9-months)?

My hair… What can I say about my hair?  It’s grown, healthy and as frustrating as ever but I’m not aborting my natural hair growth mission.  I’m still trying out styles and wearing my infamous wig.  Here’s an update on everything that’s been going on with my hair through the eyes of my iPhone. 🙂

I’ve went through a multitude of hair styles in the last six months.  My ends have been trimmed and healthy as ever.  Cold wave rods have become my go to and transform into the perfect poof after a few days.  Recently, I was asked to be a hair model for a natural hair class.  It was a great experience and allowed me to learn more about this type of event.  The next time I attend I’ll be a vendor.  My hair journey seems to be on break.  I’m not noticing any dramatic growth.  There might be a need for a side by side photo.  As discouraged as I get some days, I remember the pact I made with myself.  We’re a little over the half way point.
The stylist Maya Mitchell used flexi rods to achieve the last couple looks.  For the 1st time in my life, I had my makeup professionally done.  The effects of the make up were shocking but I liked it.  There’s always something going on with my hair and I just like to keep you all in the curls, coils and kinks.  ðŸ™‚

The season is still high for people to declare their New Year’s resolutions.  I’ve told you about my feelings on all that jazz.  You all know I prefer the idea of planning.  My office area is set for successful documentation of these things.  While going through some of the blogs I follow, I made my way to Tall Glass of Style.  I found a bit of inspiration on her style resolutions post.  The piece spoke to me because i’m a tomboy at heart.  There are times when I get involved with the very feminine activities of daily life.  On the general side of things I’m more of a wash & go kinda girl.  So here are my plans and so far in the new year – I‘m doing good.

My 2015 Beau Miss Plan

1. Do Laundry More Frequently

I have more clothes that allowed.  However, I tend to run through everything then struggle to pull my look together or buy more of the same item.  Something that I want to wear is always in the hamper.  This would result in me having shorter laundromat visits.

2.  Get Ready Get Ready Get Reeeeeaaaady

I’m kind of an early bird.  After the school run, I’m up until I take a nap.  It would be beneficial if I just got my clothes together then. This means all the way down to the undergarments.  That’s usually where I waste a lot of time.

3.  A lil Definition

I love make up but you wouldn’t know it by the way I come out most days. A simple wiggle of the mascara, fluff of blush and lip color can go a long way.  I want to be as ready and prepared to present myself daily.

4.  Closet Queen

My clothes are in several areas of my home.  IKEA will be seeing a few more of my dollars to create a more effective flow for selection of my looks.  This space will require me to become more savvy with my storage choices.

5.  Not A Sneakerhead

I don’t have multiple pairs of gym shoes.  It’s not because I don’t like them.  The reason is more about me buying out of necessity.  This year I plan to incorporate more athletic wear into my wardrobe.

6.  Protect Ya Face

We all know that black don’t crack! I want to make sure it doesn’t lose it’s glow, firmness or gain any problem areas.  I’m taking better care of my face and skin through proper moisture, hydration and cleansing.  Night creams are my thing, right now.

7.  The Classics

Through my Pinterest-ing , I’ve discovered several list that inform you on the classic garments you need in your closet.  Work must be completed on my must haves.

8.  You Can Do It

Seriously considering constructing an article of clothing from a pattern.  I dabble in altering my clothes.  Making them may be a whole new world for me but I’ll keep you informed.  Between my love for Beaute’ J’adore and MiMi Styles – I can’t take it anymore!

9.  Dress My Age

Pay more attention to the garments I purchase.  Age appropriateness is key for me right now. I know I look good for my age but there is NO reason to dress the same way I did decades ago. For Pete’s sake I have a 15 year old kid.

10.  Keep wearing What I Feel

For the most part, what I wear is a reflection of my attitude for the day.  This is the driving force behind everything I put on and there’s no reason to change this EVER.

Do you have any fashion or maintenance plans for the new year?

There’s something very special about beautiful organization options. It’s amazing how people can use the same item for completely different things. When I began to research needed features for my vanity, I went straight to YouTube. Through the million videos I watched I realized there was no right or wrong way to set up this area but the apothecary jar kept appearing in the footage. People had made them, spent a nice amount on them or just let it go from their plans. I knew I needed a few to liven up the party in my setting and I was on the hunt!

Whenever I strike out for home accents on a budget I go to Hobby Lobby first. They’ve rarely let me down since my 1st visit a few years ago. When I searched the aisles for the coveted jars I discovered a beautiful selection at prices I refused to pay. The stickers ranged from $19.99-27.99 and there was a 50% discount on the items. I had only given myself a $25 budget to decorate my vanity and these definitely would have blown it. So I decided to hit the store next door – Home Goods
My my my! The selection of apothecary jars was endless and the prices were just what I needed. Take a look!

With so many to choose from I became anxious. The prices were more my speed ranging from clearance pieces for $5 and larger more elaborate pieces for $20. Then I remembered the space I was working with and settled on two for a total of $10.

They have added attitude and function to the vanity. As you can see I use the shorter of the two for cotton balls, rounds and squares – all the things I need when I’m cleaning and clearing my face. The taller jar is utilized for my most favorite cosmetic – Mascara, and I see there’s a little room for a few more.

I first became exposed to these jars via my mom. She actually uses hers to hold soap, instead of leaving it in the boxes. My sister Shawn, uses them as candy dishes. There are so many wonderful uses they almost seem essential to any home. I’m sure I’ll be picking up a few more in the future as this has become on of my Beloved Things and  Beau Miss.
