I believe it was within Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice “The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds…. Let no such man be trusted.” (Something along those lines a little longer but that’s the moral of the story, lol) Julius Myers aka DJ Jewels Baby, Detroit native and one of the entertainment industry’s premier DJs. Orchestrating parties since 1998, his style and personality are sure to give the attendees of any event memories that they won’t soon forget. At the same time, he’s been incorporating his love of music and desire to help children through Math Made Easy, a collection of songs that teach children multiplication. Let me add that he is an accomplished Trainer within the LA Fitness corporation. Beautifully Misunderstood stopped the always busy DJ Jewels for the “Happiness Quest” inquiry.
Who inspired/encouraged your movements/change? I’m inspired by the desire to be better and the desire to be happy, knowing there is greatness on many levels that await me. It’s strictly internal. I may see successful people, I smile to myself and say I am/ will be there and in greater positions that what I see. I believe in me.
What risk (if any) did you take to follow your happiness? It’s a lonely road, most people cannot over stand the drive and discipline it takes (to) achieve greatness or even happiness. Every social part of my life suffers, I hang out with my close friend while I’m deejaying an event, or at the gym where I do personal training. (My) Love life women don’t like to hear “no, I have work to do”, so many nos and that’s that. I don’t see my family much due to me chasing my dreams and desires.
How long did it take you to embrace the move toward happiness? ( It’s apparent that he’s known his whole life that he wanted to impact the world..)
Where would you be had you NOT followed your happiness? There was no other option but to pursue this journey towards happiness.
Sum up your journey in one sentence…. The happiness from within me touches the turntables which pushes you to experience happiness that only can be felt in that divine moment, which is…PRICELESS.
Beautifully Misunderstood shined the spotlight on Jewels (the common moniker he goes by) for his “never giving up” attitude and constant progression toward the success he has envisioned for himself. As the sound of Detroit continues to affect the world, even as so many attempt to concede that it has no relevance, I’m sure he’ll have a hand in keeping our musical souls alive. I’ll let you in on a little history. I met him while he was deejaying a party of a friend. Needless to say, I have no idea where she is right now, but he and I have grown as friends. Whenever, I am asked about recommendations for a music vendor for events, he’s the person I tell them to call. The DJ (that’s what I call him) has displayed more perseverance and patience in attaining his goals. Always making people accountable for the goals they have set for themselves and expressed to him, he’ll assist in keeping you on path. As he’s told me on so many occasions “Quit Playing,” always inquiring about progression of my plans. I trust him, as mentioned in the being of this post, he’ll succeed in all his endeavors. If you’re looking to include music in your next event go to thatsmyfavoritedj.com and submit a booking request. Don’ forget to check out his Math Made Easy website and support an educational effort. As always keep dreaming, moving in the path of your HAPPINESS and SMILE.
